a few articles to help new artists online

"What better way to get your robots in sync, your space buggy aligned, and your automated day going than to tune into digitalTRAFFIC, one of the more amazing Artists here on NOISEHEAD. Specializing in Electronica/Industrial, and using a broad spectrum of waveforms, resonances and frequencies, his purely cerebral electronic music will make you think that your computer is, in all actuality, alive and well with emotion. This particular track, 'neo' is a perfect particle wave enducer to start off with before venturing off and re-materializing into other realms and, of course, there are no promises as to what worlds and galaxies you might electronically just happen to end up visiting or tuning into from there. But don't be "shocked" as, in this day and age, we all could use a little electronic neural re-alignment, and, who knows, listening to digitalTraffic may even help to make us more "industrial"... (just keep a watchful dish out for any oncoming solar storms that might disrupt your receivers &/or magnetic functioning... otherwise (while we're all still human)... feel free to tune in... and enjoy..." - Magic Potion

selling your music at gigs from your laptops

selling your music at your gigs.

When artists play live do they sell their music mp3s from their laptops ?

Take a laptop / computer setup to all your gigs with a copy of all your tracks and albums etc. Setup a point / stall / booth / gig team / invite fans to buy a copy of your music - you could advertise this service on your flyers / tickets - "bring your keyring flash drives". A fan simply hands over the USB Flash Drive Keyring / etc - and gets a copy straight onto the device for a relatively small price within seconds. The artists saves a fortune in CD pressing etc and the fan is happy because they now have your music straight onto their players. You could also offer the mp3s as freebies to promote the band.

Obviously you have to cater for differing mp3 devices - but with a little bit of thought and organisation you could be making even more money out of your live events.

all artists should have one. they are a great tool for advertising your music and getting your message 'out there'. digitalTRAFFIC uses www.podomatic.com - averaging d/ls +/- 500 per week - but there are 100s out there - free. get your podcast listed in the free podcast directories etc. great way to disseminate info, music, video, to your fans. get your music into other podcasts. keep it regular – release a regular show that fans can signup to – this will increase exposure to your sound and videos increase your fan base / sell more music etc etc
